Michael Lees worked in the RAF (one of our Industry Partners!) for 25 years before deciding to try his hand at something different. He started using his engineering experience to teach Design & Technology lessons and then joined us at UTC Leeds as Performing Engineering Operations (PEO) Assessor.
We caught up with Michael to find out more about his experience of teaching at UTC Leeds.
Elisabeth Hazlewood has always had a desire to teach, after completing her degree in Chemistry she trained to become a teacher – she’s now been teaching science for 24 years and has been Head of Science for 9 years!
Alastair Chambers aims to use his Geography lessons to inspire the students at UTC Leeds to use their engineering skills to make a difference.
Neil Copsey joined UTC Leeds in September 2019 to teach Sciences specialising in Biology and is Head of Key Stage 5.
New Assistant Principal KS4 Lead, Tim Smeaton, is a former Associate Vice Principal who has joined the UTC inspired by the college’s focus on the world of work. Tim also teaches maths at the UTC.
Mark Hinchliffe joined UTC Leeds in 2018 as an engineering teacher. Mark has nearly thirty years’ experience teaching in secondary schools and, prior to joining UTC Leeds, worked in engineering companies in Wakefield.
Subject Leader of Computing at UTC Leeds, Damian Whitehouse, joined the UTC in September 2018. He is a very experienced teacher, having worked in teaching and training since 2001.
